Percussion is a term used for percussive instruments apart from the drum kit. The array of instruments in a percussion player’s arsenal can include the very humble egged-shaped shaker and the non-descript triangle, to the Djembe (pronounced Jim-Bay) and the Cajon (pronounced Car-Hon). All these instruments tell a story and add colour to a percussionist’s canvas as he paints each song with different strokes on each instrument.
Our instructors are well-versed in Latin drumming, which requires independence and knowledge of the basic clave pattern incorporated in the groove. These styles and patterns cannot be learnt or understood by purely reading books, but through careful application.
